Easter Bubbles (My Spring Bucket List, week 2)

I just love Easter time. Besides Christmas, Easter is my favorite holiday. Yes, it’s fun to buy colorful toys and yummy sour jelly beans for my baby’s Easter basket and hide eggs in the yard for him to find, but my real love for Easter stems from the true reason meaning behind it: Jesus has conquered Death once and for all and He’s alive!

I’m having trouble putting into words just how incredible it is to me that Jesus would die the most shameful death known to mankind- crucifixion on a cross- just so I could be in a relationship with Him. Jesus’s love knows no end. It’s incredible, it's patient, it's everlasting. The thing that I pray most often for Seth is that he would have a heart that is always turned towards the Lord, and that he would always listen to Him and obey Him. Nothing on earth would bring me greater joy than for my children to choose Jesus and follow Him.

This week’s blog post is a double post in that I wanted to do an Easter recap and also check another task off of my Spring Bucket list!

S A T U R D A Y Morning

The day before Easter, our church hosted a Easter egg hunt at a small park in a local neighborhood right near our church. It was a blast! There were a ton of families from the neighborhood that showed up to have fun. It made me really happy to see the kids' faces light up with joy when they were hunting for the eggs and when they won a prize basket!

After he found his first egg, Seth didn't quite grasp the idea that you were supposed to pick up said eggs and put them into the bag.

All he wanted to do after that was find rocks and throw them into the bushes.

He's usually very much a people person- he's always smiling and waving to strangers at the grocery store or wherever we go, really!, so to look back from the side of the crowd where I was to and see him rock hunting by himself was a bit funny. I'm sure these pictures will be giving me some good laughs for years to come!

E A S T E R Sunday

I bought Seth some bubbles (among a plethora of other fun, brightly-colored items!) for his Easter basket and could not wait to see his reaction when I blew those first bubbles for him.

But first, we had to go to church to celebrate Jesus! Here's a picture of us attempting an Easter selfie. The win here is that we're both smiling and in focus. Usually I get one or the other, but rarely both in one picture. #MomWin

After we had a delicious lunch with family, I took Seth outside to play with our bubbles! In my mind's eye, Seth would go insane about these bubbles and think they were the best thing that I had ever shown him. Reality was very different in that he just stared at the bubbles most of the time. I don't think he really understood what they were, but after a few minutes he got into popping them once they landed on the pavement.

As I finish up writing this post for this week, I'm sitting here thinking about what a truly special weekend this has been. I spent the entirety of it with some sweet friends and my family, all to celebrate the greatness of God and His love. The truth of this weekend- that Jesus died and rose from the grave- is the crux of what I believe in with my entire heart and what I live my whole life for. In my opinion, there is no greater reason to celebrate.
